How Concord Mediation collects, uses and protects your information, how we use cookies, and the rights you have.

Who we are

Concord Mediation is run by Irena Finnegan, an independent mediator. Concord Mediation is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy question, or to use any of your rights, email hello@concordmediation.ie.

What we collect

When you use the enquiry form, we collect:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your phone number, if you choose to give it (this is optional)
  • the nature of your enquiry, chosen from our six services: community, workplace, commercial, medical and clinical, landlord and tenant, or family relationship mediation
  • the brief message you write
  • your acknowledgement that you have read this privacy policy

Enquiries from the form are sent to hello@concordmediation.ie. Please keep your first message short: there is no need to include sensitive or detailed personal information until we have spoken.

If you go on to work with us, we may also hold:

  • contact details and contact preferences you give us by email or phone
  • information about the dispute that you choose to share, which may include details about your work, business, property, health or relationships
  • the Agreement to Mediate, notes and documents created during the mediation, and any written agreement reached

Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and working.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation (steps taken at your request before entering an agreement)
  • To provide mediation under our Agreement to Mediate (contract)
  • To meet legal and professional obligations, including the Mediation Act 2017 and the MII Code of Ethics (legal obligation)
  • To keep the website secure and working (legitimate interests)
  • Sensitive information, such as health, is only processed with your explicit consent or where needed to establish or defend legal claims

Confidentiality

Mediation is generally confidential, subject to limited exceptions set out in law, including the Mediation Act 2017. These are explained before mediation begins and in the Agreement to Mediate. We never share what one person tells us in private with the other person without permission. See our Terms & Conditions for more.

Who we share it with

Nobody, except service providers that help run the practice (such as email, secure storage and video calls) under data-processing terms, or where the law requires. We never sell your data or use it for marketing without your consent.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as needed for the enquiry or mediation and to meet professional and insurance requirements, and then securely delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact hello@concordmediation.ie. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Cookies

This website currently uses no advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies. If that changes, for example if we add website analytics or an online booking tool that sets non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent before any such cookies are set, and we will list them here.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. You can also read our Terms & Conditions and complaints procedure.
